Unfortunately, these were articles published by InfoWorld, E-Week,
CRN, and other weekly trade journals. Unfortunately they are
notorious for NOT archiving their content for long-term access on Web
Sites.
If you'd like, you can find some of the articles through University
Microforms. The electronic edition is very expensive, mostly intended
for corporate libraries. You can also go to the larger public
libraries who keep Microfilm or Microfiche archives.
The letters mentioned in my post would have been covered in several of
these magazines back in September-November of 2001, just prior to the
elections (which is why it didn't get much headline coverage in the
popular press).
There were also links to those articles posted in usenet, but the
links now point to tombstones - some generic page on the web site that
says the article is no longer available.
