GNOME file manager gets tabbed file browsing
,----[ Quote ]
| Although Nautilus—the GNOME file manager—includes many useful features and
| offers an excellent implementation of the spatial paradigm, its browser mode
| is less impressive and is missing some must-have functionality. The Nautilus
| developers are about to deliver a big improvement, however, with the addition
| of full support for tabbed browsing.

KDE (Konqueror) has had this functionality for at least 5 years. Dolphin
simplifies it further.

Ubuntu's OpenGL face browser will bring bling to GDM
,----[ Quote ]
| The GNOME Display Manager (GDM) is a component of the GNOME desktop
| environment that provides a graphical login prompt. It is used on many Linux
| distributions and is often the first interactive part of the desktop that
| users experience after the computer finishes booting. GDM is themable, and is
| often customized by distributors to include branding, but has changed little
| over the years.
