The Windows code base has reached it's last station. Just like the stream
trains from Trevithic's first train in 1804 to the Evening Star in 1960,
in the end, some new technology will disrupt the old. In the case of the
steam trains, diesel locomotives beginning with the first in Switzerland
in 1912 took until the 1950s where the engines were well enough developed
to have power/weight and economy comparable with steam engines.

It's taken Linux distributions from the MCC distribution in 1992 until
we arrive at the modern set of Red Hat and Debian-based distributions
in 2008 to really start to gain traction in the desktop space.

Like the steam trains, the windows code base really cannot be expected
to be developed any further. Whereas, the linux code-base remains ripe
for further development.
