Linonut is right, though, indenting text has been a standard usenet
quoting method for short quotes for as long as I can recall.  Also,
putting | or > at the start of the quote is another way.

Hadron trawler is just doing his usual - he finds it virtually impossible
to write a post which doesn't insult the person he responds to in
some way.  It's like a kind of usenet turette's syndrome.
