Verily I say unto thee, that Roy Schestowitz spake thusly:
> Former Windows Developer Trashes Windows Vista, Gets Slapped, Falls
> Back in Line
This is hilarious. First he clearly states that he's having problems on
/multiple/ machines, with issues ranging from spontaneous reboots to
non-existent drivers. Then he desperately tries to back-pedal by blaming
a memory module!
Now as much as I'm sure corrupted memory can and does cause more
failures than many people might credit, this particular scenario is a
little too incredible.
. Why would a perfectly functional memory module cease functioning just
because a particular GPU or OS was installed? Coincidence?
. What does the absence of an HP printer driver have to do with RAM?
. Why would a single damaged memory module, on one machine, cause
another unrelated machine to "spontaneously reboot" after installing
Sony camcorder software on both? Let's see him squirm out of /that/
one.
. Why would faulty RAM prevent him from retrieving video from the
camcorder per se, or subsequently view it? This is not a hardware
issue, it's simply a software issue.
. As he states, "my home is stuffed full of PC’s". Have /all/ of them
miraculously developed faulty RAM as a result of installing Vista?
Unlikely. Which of the machines was acting as the broken print server?
Was it the one with the allegedly faulty RAM? He doesn't say.
. What has Microsoft's OneCare /known/ problems got to do with allegedly
faulty RAM on just one machine?
Finally:
"I spend at least an hour a day fixing PC problems"
I'm sure this is only a /recent/, rather than ongoing problem. Right?
So now we know, if you have Vista problems - just install new RAM.
It'll Fix Everything®. I'm sure.
