It does the MS fanbois no favours when they whine like that, it just
exposes them as the shills they really are, and convinces casual readers
that the general sentiment about Microsoft and it's few remaining "fans"
is valid. Vocally supporting (and defending) a company in which one has
an vested financial interest, does nothing for the credibility of one's
opinion, in fact it's more likely to dissuade the casual reader from
supporting that opinion. Witness the phenomenon of bloggers losing all
credibility when it transpired that they'd been bribed with Laptops from
Microsoft. SeÃor (MSFT) Lopez might do well to remember that, as might
the other Microsoft proxies in this group.
Like I've said before, Windows is *ubiquitous*, but I doubt it's that
"popular", especially in the present climate. Certainly there is still
the clueless non-geek faction (the sheep), but surely the number of
die-hard "fans" must be approaching zero. Look at how MS has screwed its
Xbox customers, especially recently with the pitiful Elite, account
bans, and apathy over stolen Live accounts. The Xbox fanbois are about
the most fanatical MS fans out there; way more than the average Windows
sheep ("what's an OS?"). Microsoft's most dedicated exponents are
turning against them, have been for a long, *long* time, but it's
getting epidemic now. No wonder MS is panicking.
If Microsoft would just back off and start behaving like a company,
instead of like terrorists, they might actually produce something worthy
that customers really *want* on its own merits, rather than being
force-fed by shady OEM deals, lies, hyperbole, and the veiled threat of
litigation.
