I could be wrong, but ISTR that the Consumer Electronics
Show in Las Vegas was a far worse offender in the area
of sexism, though I doubt they routinely offer "painted
ladies". (That term has some odd connotations -- the
usual context is Victorian houses.)

Ditto for car companies, though one did state that they
were abandoning the models so that people will actually
look at the cars. (Google unfortunately is being reticent
again.)

But yeah, that is a strange marketing effort, a la Demi
Moore. (Though that wasn't Demi Moore being painted for
penguins -- though she is also a brunette, judging from the
pictures Google is throwing at me. They're both cute and
curvy, and during at least one point in their lives willing
to sit still while someone daubs at them with a paintbrush.
The main difference: Demi has straight hair. :-) )

Besides, I'm not sure Tux has an "outie"; certainly the
Larry Ewing variant doesn't. The Wikipedia page shows
an Adelie penguin, who doesn't appear to have an outie,
either (it's hard to say under all that down, though).
Other variants of the Linux penguin are also shown; none
have distinguishable outies.

So that pic is just so wrong... :-)

Googling "guerrilla marketing" coughed up

http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/articles/guerrilla-marketing/

which doesn't mention this particular Novell effort. :-)
(It *does* mention Firefox.) Perhaps Novell could do worse than
read that particular piece.
