You should've just said "I can do what I want with it as long as I make the
source code available, what business is it of your how I choose to package
it?" and left it at that.
No need to start a flamewar, just ignore the idiots who don't understand
GPL. (Doesn't matter who the idiot is, maintainer, creator, whatever, if
they release as gpl they have to accept the possibility of forks and
linkages they might not like)
