Have you seen the recent articles/threads on /code/ translations? The kernel
has become very attractive in Asia, so they port it (or maybe just its
documentation, annotation, and comments) to Chinese and Japanese. It's like
having a TV show that is so popular... to the point of being dubbed, maybe
even with transcripts... stored online + translations (Frasier had this honour
and I used to read many transcripts of episodes at work). That's when you know
a gig has gone global and mainstream.
Will the folks at Redmond (1/3 of them are on Visas, BTW) actually _translate_
their code? For who? Not even internally is a person permitted to view
the /whole/ code of Windows, AFAIK. They separate and divide the 'damage',
allocating groups to cubibles and merging the code at the end.
,,,no wonder they couldn't get Longhorn to run or compile properly back in
2004/5... and they sent a C&D letter to those enthusiasts who tried to revive
it...
