Mobile Linux for the Mobile Fan
,----[ Quote ]
| Open Source Mobile platforms + Linux Desktop OS = Happy Users. It has
| long been my utmost option that we need open source mobile devices
| that sync BS-free with Linux boxes. The closest we have seen to this
| was the closed source Palm OS syncing with the open source Linux box.
| Close, but we are not there yet.
|
| As insane as it is with the release of all of the "Linux-powered"
| phones out there, we have yet to see any real evidence that any
| company will stand up and take a chance on offering support for
| the OS that is running on their phones. We see them happy to utilize
| it for their own needs, but screw the user, they can sync up on
| Windows! Forget that.
|
| No, I sincerely hope to see options like OpenMoKo platform shake
| things up by creating an environment where the Linux developer
| can really get down and dirty, thus creating applications that
| are both open and working with open mobile platforms. Some of
| this may sound like a tall order, but one can always dream.

Setting up Palm synchronisation in Linux is actually easier than doing so
with Windows.
