To elaborate, let us use water supplies as an analogy. You are being charges
for your consumption of water, Correct? How would you feel (or fill) if the
supplier began shipping you anti-biotics, charging the same account from
which the water bill is depleted? They would say that you risk deadly
infections if you resist this 'add-on'...

Only by coming from the other side of the fence (secure O/S) can a user truly
appreciate security and be longer blind to extortion and woe. The IT world
is overly occupied with security (or lack thereof), which is highlighted as
a bug, *NOT* a function.

OneCare - That's where Microsoft opened the door to mockery. More and more
(non-technical) people are coming to grasp what you pointed out. And they
are not happy!
