Of course it is, but what if the shoe were on the other fin?
IOW if it was Erik instead of Roy?

I am approaching thing entire thread from the POV of how the Linux
advocates are reacting and how they would have reacted if it had been
Erik, or me.
Nothing more or less.
I don't give a rat's ass what Roy S does on his website but if I were him,
and thankfully I am not, I would have fired an email off to the author
explaining the situation and posted it here.

I used to agree, but now I have changed my mind.
All Roy does is pipe a news feed into COLA with much of it being Microsoft
bashing.
I can find news in a dozen or more different places if I want to.
However I can understand why people may like what Roy does and that is
fine.
He is certainly far more of an advocate than Culley, Kent or Poaster,

Erik rarely agrees with me, he has gone on record as saying so many times.
I rarely understand the technical issues Erik likes to discuss.
You need to de-tune your tinfoil hat because it is misfiring.

Not true.
There is nothing wrong with Roy S's posts other than I feel they clutter
things up.
I filter his news posts but he seems to be slipping with his { [ which
indicates it is not scripted.
See below....

limit.
Why?
You guys make those accusations all the time.
ie: how can flatfish post 24x7...He must be paid...
Something does not add up with Roy S and I simply do not believe he has
the time to do this out of the goodness of his heart and passion for Linux.
To research, parse and individually post the number of articles he posts
per day takes a lot of time.
The whole thing smells of financial gain and BTW I didn't accuse him of
astroturfing.
Also note that he didn't deny it.
I've been here since 1995 and IMHO there is more to Roy S than meets the
eye.
I have no proof, but just a gut feeling.

I don't have to comb, I simply use them
It doesn't take long for the flaws to make themselves known.
For example I just tried Suse 10.1 and it is a disaster IMHO.
Suse 10.0 was nice and solid.
They ruined it with 10.1 and looking at the troubles in alt.os.linux.suse
it seems I am not the only one who feels this way.
By contrast PCLinuxOS is ROCK SOLID and I can't say enough good about it.
I call em' like I see em' and that tends to piss some people off.
Sorry, but I didn't drink the Koolaid.
When it comes to Windows, Erik has an amazing amount of technical
knowledge that I simply do not have.
I speak from my experiences (both Linux and Windows).

I am retired at 46, set for life and run a small studio in addition to
guesting on others projects and doing vinyl transcription services etc.
I don't know who is paying Roy's bills but I truly doubt he is doing all
of this out of the goodness of his heart.
Writing from experience takes very little time compared to researching,
clipping, cutting and posting all of the news articles Roy does.
All I have to do is pick a thread and share my thoughts.
It's quite easy.
Like I said, my involvement in this is really limited to my observations
as to how the COLA gang has reacted and I do suspect Roy is being
compensated for his time.
But in the end, who really cares?
I sure don't.
