So very true. I remember this very well... how they selectively leaked
information and used Robert Scoble (paid blogger) to make vague
descriptions. They made it seem like it was going to be the next best thing,
whatever it might be (no disclosure, only clues and pieces of a puzzle).
Some spread the rumour that it would be an iPod killer.

Microsoft marketeers do all sorts of secretive things as such, including
viral marketing. Does anyone remember the "What if Microsoft made the iPod?"
video? Microsoft's marketing department injected it to the Web. Only later
came the quiet admission.

The Most Disappointing Product Of 2007 is in the making. I don't know,
however, if it'll be Office 2007 or Windows Vista. These will prove that the
year of cyberwars (Windows zombies) mark the end of an era. The last from
the Windows family, onwards to Web services, Free open source software, and
a lost grip on OEM's.
