What confuses me is the part where you say "All i get is a black screen, and
no password on restarting". Is the computer getting 'jammed' and requires a
reboot? Assuming the prior part was valid ("Nothing happens"), then I would
point out that SuSE users listed a few processes that prevent screen savers
from ever being invoked (no period of inactivity). YOU (YaST Online Update)
is among these, IIRC.
