And the reason "Linux has a bug" is damning is because...?
Linux *does* have bugs; it's inevitable for any large
software project. In fact, the Linux *kernel* has several
bugs, probably in the video area, which preclude clean
resetting of video when things go awry. There are also
issues in the SCSI area. All of these are generally
working and function well enough until something goes
wrong with the hardware -- and they may or may not be
worth fixing.
I'll admit my main beef with video is that the ATi card
I have in my Kayak does not reset the status registers
properly when exiting X on an occasional basis; I wish
I could characterize it better than that. Reentering X
when a GLX app is running can lead to disaster, as RAM
gets corrupted apparently, at least on the screen.
And there was a networking bug -- the infamous IP
fragmentation "teardrop" bug. That one was quickly fixed,
of course -- but it was a bug.
Contrast this to Windows Vista, which has no bugs at all,
and is supposedly the most secure Windows system on the
planet (erm....yeah). Shouldn't we just let Microsoft
run everything and give up on this so overrated freedom
thing? :-) After all, Microsoft Knows More Than We Do(tm).

Windows Vista. Because it's time to refresh your hardware. Trust us.
